Izmir is very accessible by rail, boat and flight.
Izmir is well served by rail with regular intercity service from Istanbul and Ankara. It counts with two railway stations: Basmane in the city centre that is the major terminal for intercity trains, and Alsancak in the north that is mainly a commuter and local route.
The intercity services to Ankara take a journey between 13-14 hours. Trains for Istanbul connect with a ferry at Bandirma.

By the sea there is a weekly ferry from Istanbul to Izmir, the journey takes around 19 hours. All ferries dock at the Alsancak Ferry Terminal, 2km north of the city centre.

Izmir is well connected with Istanbul, Ankara and Antalya with several daily flights, as well as also there are regular flights from many European cities arriving to the City. The flights arrive to Adnan Menderes Airport at 16km south of the city centre.
From the airport to the city centre there are bus service, havas and taxis, there are also hourly trains that arrives to Alsancak Station.
